What is DVD Publishing

DVD Publishing has really become popular over the last few years as the prices of DVD media and replication services have plummeted. Publishing a project to DVD has the major benefit over a CD in the area of space. A CD can only hold 740MB of data while a standard DVD can hold 4.7 GB and a dual sided DVD can hold over 8GB. The benefit over a CD is obvious.

With so much more room to work with, presentations can be quite extensive in graphics, advanced menu systems, etc..

When you submit a project for DVD Publishing, the end result looks like a DVD that was purchased in a store.

DVD publishing used the same process as CD publishing to create the master disc. Once the menu systems and content are programmed onto the master, that disc can then be used for duplication or replication. If it is replicated, the master disc is pressed into a Glass master. The glass master is then used to stamp out child discs of the master which will then be silkscreend and packaged all in one process.
