Drag racing roots go as far as back as post World War II years in the 1930s. Founder of the Road Runner Club, Wally Parks moved to California with his family in the early 1920s an attended his first dry lake speed trials event later in the 1930s. Who would know that many years later Wally would found Drag Racings most influential sanctioning body the NHRA.
Dragsters of today have far surpassed the technology of years past. The funny cars today are capable of producing mind altering G forces while they take off down the track at over 200 mph. The cars of today run on nitromethane which can cost 30 or more dollars per gallon. |
