Bullying and Violence

Our Bullying DVD series discusses and shows, bullying among teenagers and children is often dismissed as being a normal part of the growing up process. Not much scientific attention has been paid to the effects that bullying may have or to the connection between bullying and other forms of violence that may manifest in children and teens later in life.
The behaviors of a bully have a wide variety of actions, but in general all of those actions involve a person or a group trying to harm someone who is vulnerable on a repeated basis. The actions can involve direct attacks (such as hitting, threatening , intimidating, maliciously teasing and taunting, name-calling, making sexual remarks, and stealing or damaging belongings). Sometimes the actions can be more subtle or indirect (such as spreading rumors or encouraging others to reject or exclude someone).
The Bullying DVD series includes information for helping parents, educators and kids understand the underlying causes of bullying and offers invaluable help for dealing with a bully or a bully's victim.
